Academy of Engineering, Jr. Summer Camp Info!

The following camps are included in the AOE, Jr. Summer Camp curriculum. This exciting extension book provides detailed, day-by-day instructions on how to conduct summer camp topics using the curriculum resources and manipulatives from the Academy of Engineering, Jr.. Each summer camp curriculum described below is designed to be conducted over the course of a week, assuming half-day intervals. A sample schedule would be the AOE Da Vinci Camp, operated Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Summer Camp Curriculum Topics

LEGO® Mania
Students are introduced to LEGO elements and building techniques. They will engage in a wide range of modeling, architectural, and engineering activities.

Introduction to Mechanical Engineering
Students are introduced to LEGO elements, simple machines, and several principles of mechanical engineering. Students will be presented with a range of modeling and engineering activities.

Advanced Mechanical Engineering Camp
Students are introduced to LEGO elements and principals of mechanical engineering, and challenged with mechanical engineering projects. Students will be presented with a range of modeling and engineering activities.

Architecture Camp
Students are introduced to LEGO elements and the principles of architecture. Students will be presented with a range of modeling, engineering, and architectural activities.

AOE Robot Camp
Students will be introduced to LEGO elements and the principles of robotics. Students will be presented with a range of modeling, engineering, and "robotic" activities.

AOE Cities Camp
Students will be introduced to LEGO elements and the principles of architecture and urban planning. Students will be presented with a range of modeling, engineering, and architectural activities.

AOE Da Vinci Camp
Students are introduced to the life and inventions of Leonardo Da Vinci using LEGO elements and principles of mechanical engineering. They will be challenged with mechanical engineering projects, and will be presented with a range of modeling and engineering activities.

AOE Alternative Energy Camp
Students will be introduced to LEGO elements, principles of "alternative energy" and challenged with mechanical engineering projects. Students will be presented with a range of modeling and engineering activities.

AOE Math Camp
Students are introduced to LEGO elements and different math oriented mechanical engineering projects. Students will be presented with a range of modeling and engineering activities.

AOE Engineering for Girls Camp
Female students will be introduced to LEGO elements, simple machines, and several principles of mechanical engineering.
