ABOUT PCS Edventures!
Executive Summary
PCS Edventures! is a single-source provider of engineering and science-based enrichment curriculum for children in the K-12 market. We’ve dedicated over 15 years to the proprietary development of our project-based learning models. Children at Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCAs, and public and private schools actively use our hands-on learning labs all over the U.S. Our market consists of any institution or organization that wants either an enhancement to their core curriculum or an after-school/summer camp program. Our product lines:
Academy of Engineering Lab (AOE): The AOE is a site license program designed for use within the K-12 environment. Our science and engineering project-based learning facilitates students’ understanding of such concepts as simple machines, complex gear systems and power transfer systems. Additional curriculum focuses on mechanical engineering, physics and architecture. A key feature is the use of LEGO® materials to create the projects.
Academy of Engineering, Jr. Lab: An exciting, complete, portable engineering laboratory that teaches engineering, technology literacy skills, communications, problem solving,teams skills. Kids explore the basic foundations of Mechanical Engineering, Structures in Architecture, and math and science.
They will also build, design, and solve problems with hands-on projects that result in knowable, touchable, and observable real-world outcomes.
Edventures Lab: The Edventures Lab is also a site license program designed for after-school and summer camp environments. A scaled-down version of the AOE lab, the Edventures Lab not only utilizes the LEGO® materials, but also the Internet for delivery of curriculum as well as teacher/parent assessment, monitored chat rooms, and digital portfolio services for students.
Academy of Robotics Lab: An exciting, complete, portable robotics laboratory that teaches logic, engineering, technology literacy skills, communications, problem solving, teams skills. Kids explore the basic principles and applications of Robotics in your day-to-day life. They will also build, design, and solve problems with hands-on projects that result in knowable, touchable, and observable real-world outcomes.
Edventures in Robotics Challenge: The Edventures in Robotics Challenge is an exciting, new program that can be used throughout the year by members of the Edventures Learning Network. Designed to complement the First LEGO® League competition and others, this program can be used at any time throughout the year to generate enthusiasm, prepare students for problem solving challenges, and create a real-world teamwork scenario for students to experience.
The Discover Lab: The materials and services in the Discover Lab are completely comprehensive and supply a full integrated solution for after-school programs. In addition, the Discover Lab's web-delivered services allow you to extend the benefits of this revolutionary program into the home of all students with Internet connectivity.
BrickLab This awesome product provides a unique and inexpensive "hands-on" learning solution for educators in all teaching environments. It combines thousands of LEGO® elements with a comprehensive curriculum that offers 52 foundational lessons in four strands including Construction Engineering, Mathematics, Physics and Communications. The extensions built on these foundational lessons provide you with several hundred unique activities that can be applied to students ranging throughout the K-12 spectrum. In addition, the supporting web services provide a number of additional challenges and resources for you and your students.
Young Learner Building Box The PCS Young Learner Building Box is an exciting, educationally sound learning program that makes a perfect hands-on learning center!! Designed to support up to 8 students (ages 3 to 6) simultaneously, this program was developed around the curriculum guidelines provided by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Your preschoolers will love the unique combination of activities, games, and manipulatives that naturally integrates cooperative learning, sequencing, number and letter recognition, vocabulary building, counting, and more!
Edventures Online Subscription Services: The subscription service is designed to stand alone for individual and/or family use. This product is purely Internet-based and uses not only LEGO® materials, but also materials found readily in the home. The curriculum is closely aligned with the Edventures! Lab. For a low subscription price of $69.95 annually, $39.95 semi-annually, or $24.95 for three months, children learn exciting subjects ranging from art to engineering through hands-on activities and guided, on-line support. They log onto the Internet from home, and use this safe and secure system to communicate with other students and teachers, take online classes, build their personalized digital portfolios, check out their next hands-on project and seek support from on-line mentors.
Originally launched as an owner-operated freestanding learning center in 1988, PCS has been reinvented to lead the evolution of education delivery and repositioned as a comprehensive provider of proprietary science and engineering programs for in-school, after-school, and in-home environments.
The new PCS draws from the experience of building a community of users that is conducive to individual styles of learning and that uses computer technology to increase areas of inquiry, application and evaluation.
PCS Labs are being rolled from room to room and deployed as school-wide resource centers that allow K-12 teachers to integrate hands-on, project-based learning activities into their daily curriculum.
