BELT DRIVE
What is it?
A belt drive is a mechanism that uses belts and pulleys to
transfer rotational input energy into output. When you turn one
pulley in a belt drive system, another pulley will turn.
Give me an example!
Some belt drive systems contain lots of pulleys. In the
belt drive model pictured here, notice that there are a bunch
of pulleys and belts transferring rotational motion to many
different parts of the same machine! See if you can tell which way
each of the axles would turn if just one of them is rotated. Do they
all turn in the same direction?
