DEGREE

What is it?

A degree is a unit of measure. We use degrees to measure the angle formed when two lines intersect or cross...like the two hands of a clock.

Give me an example!

Look at a clock (one with hands). At 3:00, the angle between the hour hand and the minute hand is 90 degrees. This is one fourth of the full circle which is 360 degrees. At 5:00, the angle formed by the two hands is 150 degrees. Notice at 6:00, the angle would be 1/2 of 360 degrees or 180 degrees. That's why when you "do a 180", you turn half of the way around or half of a circle!
