PROGRAM

What is it?

A program is a list of events. It's the thing that tells you what to do and when to do it. It tells you what is going to happen and when. If you go to a football game, you can buy a program. This will usually tell you what is happening pre-game, at half-time, and post-game, as well as player's names and other important information.

When talking about computers, a program is not only a list of events, it is a list of commands and processes. It groups commands together so they can be easily recalled. It is sort of a roadmap for the computer to follow so that it can perform certain jobs at certain times.

Give me an example!

If you want to print a picture that you drew on your computer, you have to run a program that will command the printer to read the information from your picture and process it or print it out on paper.
