SOLUTION

What is it?

A solution is a mixture of two or more kinds of molecules, atoms, or ions (or chemical compounds) that is homogeneous — or appears to be all one thingsolution may be in either a liquid or a gas state. For our purposes here, we will deal mainly with liquid solutions.

Give me an example!

When you take a powdered drink mix and add water and stir it up in a glass, you're creating a solution. The water is called the solvent because it is present in a much larger amount than the powder, which is called the solute. When the two compounds blend together to make one solution that is all the same, we say the solute is dissolved in the solvent.
